Before the early 1960s, eating meat on Friday was considered a sin, for which you have to confess, but after the Pope’s announcement after 1960s, it was removed as a sin for Roman Catholics. Hence after 1960 you could eat meat o Fridays also.

In other words what is the barometer to judge a persons spiritual evolution
The first point to be made here is to understand that ‘No evolution can ever take place in denial’. By denying any pleasure or need to yourself, you cannot evolve. It is only through pleasure that a person can elevate him or herself.
- Do hat gives you pleasure
- But you have to understand the difference between denial & self regulation
- You can make out how much a person is evolved from the choices he make that give him pleasure
- If a person enjoys being a sadist it simply meant that that person is not yet very much spiritually evolved or is yet a lower level
- Another person, always thinks before any action, if will hurt or injure any person, or to say he respects the rights & happiness of other mortals is more evolved spiritually
- As you become more spiritual your choices or things that give you pleasure get somewhat refined.
